I think most climate scientists would agree with you that the science needs to get better -- that's what the research is for. But the public policy issue is whether the current knowledge is good enough to justify some measures, an that requires weighting the potential costs of doing nothing, even if those costs are uncertain. Decisions are often made with imperfect information. Otherwise we wouldn't build an army until we are actually invaded. One of the things that bothers me most about the warming opponents is their misuse of science to cover their real issue, which is to oppose anything that gets in the way of business as we know it. This is the same thinking that opposed emissions standards in vehicles and prohibitions on dumping waste into waterways. History shows we can live with tighter standards. And no one is proposing shutting all coal plants tomorrow. Climate change is like a patient presenting to a doctor with a poorly understood illness and is offered a very expensive treatment with no idea whether it will help or not and with a lot of side effects, some worse then the disease. Doctor Obama is insisting that we take the treatment. Its a hoax produced by a bunch of corrupt and pretend "scientists" who are bribed by the Feds in order to manufacture predetermined outcomes. This is Big Government's bridge to greater societal control and higher taxation. Besides, anything going on every day for the past 4.6 billion years is demonstrably good for mankind and all life on Earth.

The elephant in the room that nobody is talking about is that without extreme measures any reduction in carbon emissions will be more than offset by population growth. When I was born in 1948 the world population was about 2.5 billion people. Today it is around 7.3 billion and is projected to grow to 11 to 13 billion by the end of this century. Most of the growth will occur in developing countries where the energy footprint of the average person is growing as they pursue the good life. This is a stiff headwind even if the world pulls together in an ideal manner (doubtful, at best). Better to spend our resources finding ways to adapt, as we have always done. Politically the "Climate debate is settled"  Economically, there will be a massive increase in costs, and few understand how much it will cost them. In typical socialist thinking the "rich" will pay for it. Obama's only interest is in his near term legacy, that will set "pie in the sky" goals, but he will not be around to to be responsible to pay for it. Let them talk, but elect a Republican President to add some sanity to the issue. At what point do x number of solar panels, grouped enough in "solar farms" to fry birds, contribute to global warming? At what point, after adopting so many wind farms that more than the 10s of thousands of birds and bats are killed each year, will "environmentalists" say that wind turbines may not actually be the answer?

Reminds of the Exxon Valdez oil spill in Alaska. Remember the images of kind souls going out there to carefully wipe off oil from each and every bird and nurse them back to health, and the endless reports on the ecological disaster and horrors of oil? Yet when birds are incinerated by solar arrays by the 10's of thousands, silence. Guess it all depends on what kills them whether they're worth caring about.
