The fallacies and misunderstanding of science are yours. Being pedantic about whether "proof" is the right word to use in regards to scientific ideas doesn't cast doubt on scientific conclusions. A proof in mathematics or formal logic must be correct if the premises are correct, but science isn't deductive, but rather inductive. As evidence accumulates in favor of a proposition, it becomes more and more likely to be correct to within experimental uncertainties.  As to models likely being "faulty", I would be interested to see you demonstrate that in detail. Which specific model results don't match up with observations to within their stated confidence intervals? As I've noted elsewhere here, I've never seen anyone be specific about this. It is just that opponents of AGW "know" that the models don't work. Finally, putting "pause" in scare-quotes is appropriate since it wasn't a pause in any statistical sense. It is entirely a meme generated by contrarians.

Finally, David, the conflation of weather prediction and climate model projections is so faulty and such an old and thoroughly debunked idea that you should be embarrassed to use it. Put simply - Climate (by definition) is about averages and long-term trends over regions, weather is what occurs on specific days or other short time periods. Predicting what the weather will be like on Wednesday next week in your city is hard and very uncertain because of the complexity and chaotic nature of weather. But it isn't hard at all to predict that it will snow at some point in Minnesota in winter, because we understand the current climate of that region. Our understanding of what drives climate and observed trends can give us what is likely to happen to climate over various longer time periods. Everything in science has uncertainties, but you find out what those uncertainties are by studying the topic with an even-handed skepticism, not by reading biased Op-Eds uncritically.

You want climate change? I'll give you climate change. Go back 50,000 years, a mere moment in time, and in the absence of significant input from Homo whatever, the world cooled and the glaciers advanced to the point where the ice was at least a half mile thick over Vancouver, Canada, where I live. Then, without any significant heat from the camp fires of Homo whatever, it all melted. All thanks to the sun, which has in the past and will into the future forever and ever, at least until it shuts down and burns out, determines the amount of heat heading our way. Man-made climate change, promoted by scheming politicians, has corrupted the pursuit of truth by scientists around the world. We will remember it as the biggest scientific hoax of modern times. There's a rock outcropping behind my home in Montana that geologists estimate is 2.2 billion years old. Every so often, I discuss the issues of the day with my rocks (I own them, you see. They have to listen to me.) "Hey, rocks! Did you hear about climate change??" We then share a good laugh.

How to drastically shorten the debate over man-caused global warming: Ask any true believer why man-caused global warming is now called man-caused climate change. Then you can get on with a conversation of actual problems and what might actually be done about them - things like an overly complicated tax code and unsustainable entitlement spending, both of which hinder real economic growth and make us all less well off than we'd otherwise be. Here is Ridley's closing sentence in his March 2015 article:  The one thing that will not work is the one thing that the environmental movement insists upon: subsidizing wealthy crony capitalists to build low-density, low-output, capital-intensive, land-hungry renewable energy schemes, while telling the poor to give up the dream of getting richer through fossil fuels.
